#5 – Quotes
Besides being a list person, I am also huge on quotes. Actually, this is kind of embarrassing. See, I'm a quote person…but I'm not one of those people who can spout interesting quotes at just the right moment so it sounds witty. I can barely remember my favorites. So this partially goes along with why I write lists: if I don't write it down, I don't remember it.
I find quotes all over the place, but mostly on Goodreads. They have a whole section dedicated to literary quotes, which is…you know, freaking awesome.
I don't really search for any specific kind of quote. I do take a fancy to funny quotes, though. And I especially love them if they're funny and about writing. Like this one:
I only write when I'm inspired, so I see to it that I'm inspired every morning at nine o'clock.
Peter De Vries
Something interesting about my room: If you're the observant type, a regular Sherlock Holmes, then you can probably tell me all the places I've had my desk by the clusters of quotes I have spread out over my wall. Since I keep my "quote cards" next to my desk at all times, and I like taping the quotes I find to the wall, the quote clusters form where I've had my desk. Here's my current one:
(See that Boston postcard? Yea, cool isn't it? I've never been to Boston.)
I love this one because it's funny. :) I put it as my Facebook status one time. Got a lot of agreements.
One of my favorites—mostly because it's short enough that I remember it.
Sometimes, I get creative with the quotes I find. This has only happened twice:
And I do love some of the "other kind" of quotes:
The one on the left became an inside joke between me and my friends because I happen to have a crush on a boy at school—if only fortunes were always true, right? ;)
Do you have a favorite quote? Do you write quotes down?
